Greetings from Mrs. Molnar! Here are some tips to help your child have a healthy and successful school year:

1. Your child should eat breakfast each day before school. One of the main reasons students are seen with the complaint of headache or stomachache is due to hunger, because they have not eaten breakfast. For those students who wish to eat breakfast at school, the cafeteria is open between 8:45-9 each morning.

2. Please do not send medications to school with your child. All medications, including over the counter, must be given to the school nurse and be accompanied by a Physicians order. Medication listed on the Discretionary Medication form can be administered with written consent of a parent/guardian.

3. Illnesses such as the common cold, minor sore throat or cough can be treated at school. If your child has a temperature of 100 degrees or greater, vomiting or diarrhea, they should be kept home. Attendance is a very important part of your child’s education. Contact Mrs. Molnar for any prolonged absences (3 or more consecutive days absent) or if you need advice about whether to send your child to school or keep them at home.

4. It is important that the school nurse be able to reach a parent/guardian in the event of illness, injury or an emergency. Updated information is obtained at the beginning of each school year. If the information changes during the course of the year, please notify the office. 410-887-5940.

5. Inform the Nurse for any changes in your child’s health status. Examples include: a new diagnosis of asthma, a recent ankle sprain, pediculosis (lice) or recent hospitalization.
