2009 Scholastic Book Fair
The Media Center is once again sponsoring a Scholastic Book Fair during American Education Week, November 16th-20th.  This year is the 27th Anniversary of Scholastic Book Fairs and the theme is Read Around the World! Your child will have a chance to BROWSE through the Book Fair on Thursday and Friday, November 12th and 13th, allowing him/her to preview the books.  Monday through Thursday, November 16th -20th, students will have the opportunity to PURCHASE books. In addition, we will have a family night on Wednesday, November 18th from 6pm-8pm.
The Book Fair will be open at 8:30 each morning to allow parents to visit.

We hope to see YOU at the Book Fair!

For more info please visit our 2009 Scholastic Book Fair website.

Once again Prettyboy Elementary will be participating in the Young Author’s Contest sponsored by the Baltimore County Reading Council and the State of Maryland International Reading Council.  Each school is able to submit several short stories and several poems from each grade levels 2-5 for the contest at the local level.  Winners will be honored by the Baltimore County Reading Council at a reception in May.  Winners from this contest then go to the state level.  Winners at this level are honored at the SOMIRAC conference in April at the Marriott Hunt Valley.
Last day to submit an entry will be January 6, 2010.  I have distributed material to each classroom teacher. However, students are also free to ask me for an entry form or can copy it from this web site. All students who present an entry will be invited to participate in a pizza party.  Last year Prettyboy Elementary submitted more entries than any other school is Baltimore County and we once again had winners at the local level.  We are definitely Prettyboy Proud!!!!

For more information about rules and entries please click here.
Entry cover forms are available online.
