School History
Prettyboy Elementary School is located in north central Baltimore County in Freeland, Maryland. The school was dedicated in 1931 and was originally named Sixth District Consolidated School for students in grades one through eight. In 1972, the school was renamed Prettyboy Elementary School, after the nearby reservoir, and educated students in Kindergarten through the sixth grade. Prettyboy Elementary now serves over 450 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. The mascot is the Prettyboy pony, and the school color is forest green.Prettyboy Elementary has over 45 staff members, with three or four classes at each grade level. Prettyboy Elementary students proudly show their “Prettyboy Pride” by wearing spirit wear every Friday. The students and staff enjoy the benefits of a close working relationship with the Prettyboy PTA and the local Recreation Council. A stroll through Prettyboy Elementary reveals exceptional student achievement, both academic and creative, fantastic teaching, caring students, and involved parents. Reasons abound to show “Prettyboy Pride!”
National Awards:
- Selected as a Physical Activity and Fitness Demonstration Center by the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports – recognized in 2007
- Students and staff recognized by the 1-175th Infantry Battalion (5th Maryland) and 58th Brigade Combat Team – Task Force Raven, Iraq for donations and support to the US Army soldiers

- Maryland State Performance Recognition Program for Outstanding Performance on MSA
- Recognized as a Maryland Green School 2007-2010
- Maryland State Physical Education Demonstration School 2007-2009
