Approved
discretionary medications are intended for occasional
use only. Whenever possible, prescribed medication
should be administered outside school hours; this lessens
disruption of your child's school day.
If your child
requires any prescription or nonprescription medication
on a regular basis, you must obtain a written
order from your health care provider and supply the
medications. This information may be faxed to
410-832-5431. The nurse will send home a Parent
Consent form that must be signed for the nurse to administer
the medication. It is recommended that the first
dose of medication be administered at home. The
medication must be brought to school in the original,
or a duplicate container, that has been labeled by
the pharmacist, with the current prescription on the
container. Instruct your child to come to the
health suite at the appropriate time to take the medication
and send a note to their homeroom teacher.
Medications should
be delivered to the school nurse by parent/guardian. If
you have any questions or would like further information, please
contact the school nurse at 410-296-2437. |
