Field trips are planned each year by the Grade Chairperson or teachers from each grade level.  Baltimore County Public Schools requires that all field trips be planned in conjunction with a unit of study and extend the learning which is taking place in the classroom. 

    Every effort will be made to try and keep the cost of each trip within reason.  Please keep in mind the cost of the trip most often includes the expense of the transportation and admission to the location or locations being visited by the class.

    Most often parents will be invited to go on the trip as a chaperone and to help supervise the children.  At times, due to class size and space limitations, parents may not be able to attend a specific field trip.

    If a field trip is planned for the greater part of the day, students will have the option of having a bag lunch prepared by the cafeteria.  The cost for this lunch is equal to the regular lunch price.  The bag lunch usually includes:  a sandwich, milk, juice, a piece of fruit and a small pack of cookies.  It is important that parents return any forms requested by the teacher 2 weeks before the date of the trip so that items can be ordered from the high school cafeteria.

    A permission slip signed by the child's parent or guardian is required if the child is to participate in a field trip.  This slip and any payment should be turned into the child's teacher at least one week in advance of the field trip.  Since the per student cost of the trip is used to determine the price paid, no refunds can be made if your child misses the field trip.  Buses and admission prices are paid in advance of the trip and are, in most cases, not refundable to the school.
