Mission
Warren Elementary School's mission is to
provide an instructional program for its students that motivates,
challenges, and encourages them to become lifelong learners. We
believe all students can and will learn. Meeting the unique needs
of individual students is a priority. We believe the primary purpose
of schools is to educate the whole child for success in a multicultural
society. We also believe high standards and expectations must
drive our instructional program and these expectations extend
to the entire staff, student population, parents, and community.
The individual needs of our richly diverse student body will be
addressed through the implementation of a variety of academic
programs that are designed to prepare them for their transition
to middle school and the challenges they will face in the 21st
century.
Community
Warren Elementary is located in the
central area of Baltimore County near Dulaney High School and
Cockeysville Middle School. The community is comprised of a

primarily a walker school that services students from
single-family dwellings, townhouses, and apartments.

Warren Elementary School provides
instruction to approximately 350 students in pre-kindergarten
through fifth grade and is one of 106 Baltimore County public
elementary schools. Primary classes contain approximately 21

Instructional Programs
Warren’s instructional focus this year is
the effective implementation of Houghton Mifflin’s Legacy of
Literacy reading program in grades one through five as well
as the Open Court Phonics kit in kindergarten through
grade three. In addition, Warren’s instructional focus is on the
use of the 5E lesson plan and the effective use of the new
Scott Foresman math series. Special educators, instructional
assistants, and personal assistants work collaboratively with
classroom teachers to provide appropriate support services for
students with special needs. Warren’s students are invited to
participate in a wide variety of challenging instructional
opportunities to further enrich and extend their learning; i.e.,
Primary Talent Development program, PACE activities, GT modules,
GT mini-studies, flexible grouping, etc. Warren emphasizes the
importance of providing all students with the instructional
tools they will need to successfully face the challenges that
lie before them in the 21st century. A variety of
extracurricular activities, field trips, cultural enhancements,
guest speakers, assemblies, workshops, and family-oriented
activities take place throughout the year to enhance instruction
for our students.
Warren Elementary School is continuing it
efforts to prepare students for the 21st century by emphasizing
the use of technology as a powerful instructional tool. Warren's
computer lab contains 30 Dell computers that
are Internet-accessible. Three laser printers, a projection device
and 27-inch TV are also available for use in the lab. A
part-time technology teacher supports the integration of
technology into classrooms.
Warren's values program plays an extremely
important role in the school's efforts to help students develop
into responsible adults. Students are encouraged to demonstrate
academic achievement, maintain a record of excellent attendance/punctuality,
and/or display a positive work ethic. Warren is continuing to
implement and enforce a school-wide Code of Conduct that identifies
the following standards for student behavior:
- I am here to learn so:
- I will be respectful
- I will be responsible
- I will be safe
- I will be prepared.
Warren's 2006-2007 school
theme, Great Students! Great Staff! Great Expectations! emphasizes the importance of providing all students with the instructional
tools they'll need to successfully face the challenges that lie
before them in the 21st century. A variety of extracurricular
activities, field trips, cultural enhancements, guest speakers,
assemblies, workshops, and family-oriented activities take place
throughout the year to enhance instruction for our students.
Parents, teachers, business partners, and community
leaders must continue to work collaboratively together to ensure that
all students meet with success in the year 2006 and beyond. With
everyone's support, all students should be able to reach their maximum
potential.
