Athletic Awards Policy
Awards
will fall into two categories – Seasonal and Yearly.
Seasonal Awards:
Seasonal awards will be given out
at the discretion of the coach at the conclusion of the season,
preferably at a meaningful event, but at nothing less than a
team meeting. It is the coach’s responsibility to see that
all awards are distributed in a timely manner. A “timely
manner” is defined as:
Fall Season - within 2 weeks
after report cards are distributed.
Winter Season - within 2 weeks
after the last game.
Spring Season - within 2 weeks
after the last game, but prior to seniors last day.
Seasonal awards include:

Varsity
Certificate -
presented to all Varsity participants
o
JV
Certificate -
presented to all JV participants
o
Sport Pin
- presented to every athlete in that sport each year.
o
Varsity
Letter - presented the
first time a student qualifies by playing on a varsity team
(ONLY ONE LETTER DURING THEIR VARSITY CAREER). Coaches will need
to confer with athletes to prevent duplication.
o
County
All-Academic Award –
Varsity ONLY (3.0 GPA minimum). This certificate requires the
coach to fill in the “exact” GPA.
o
Minds in
Motion Award – JV and
Varsity (MPSSAA certificate for athletes who attain a minimum
3.25 GPA on the report card for that sport season).
The A.D. will provide awards to
you in time for your event, as requested on the attached form.
**Awards NOT distributed at your
end of season event are to be identified and returned
immediately to the A.D. who will forward them to the Comet
Booster Club. The Comet Booster club will then mail awards home.

Yearly Awards:
(All confidential)
MVP and Unsung Hero (Varsity
teams only), Silver and Gold Senior trophies, and other special
awards will be distributed at the Annual Athletic Banquet in May
and will be announced at that time. The banquet is sponsored by
the Comet Booster Club.
