 Library Materials Policy
How many books can I borrow at a time? Can I renew? How much are fines?

Students can borrow up to five books at a time for three weeks.  Books can be renewed.  Books that are overdue will be assessed a late fee. ($0.10 per day)

 Textbook Policy
Taking care of textbooks is YOUR responsibility. Don’t get fined.

Each school year, textbooks are issued by classroom teachers to their students.  Textbooks are checked out and checked in by the teacher using an automation system.  The system keeps track of the books checked out to your student and when they are due back.  Books that ARE NOT returned or ARE RETURNED DAMAGED will be assessed a fine equivalent to the cost of the book’s purchase price.  Our teachers depend on getting these books back every year in good condition so that the next incoming class can use them. Likewise, Your student also depends on the books being returned so that they can be issued books for their next school year.  Students with overdue textbooks will receive a reminder notice sent home over the summer. All books checked out in the fall are due back June of the next year.   If you or your student has any questions about his/her textbooks, please see the teacher or the librarian at New Town High.  Thank for your help with this important matter!

 Student Expectations
What does the library expect of me?

  • Students must have a pass from their teacher to enter the library during class hours.  No passes are needed before or after school.
  • Lunch passes are ONLY given by the librarian. You must obtain a lunch pass in the morning at the sign-up desk in the cafeteria. Only 12 passes are given per lunch shift. No food or beverages are allowed in the library. So, eat first and then come on up to the Media Center.
  • Students are expected to return borrowed library materials on time.
