Law Office features Overlea artwork
Artwork by high school students from Baltimore County is currently on display in the law offices of Azrael, Gann and Franz in Towson. The art will hang in the office until June when an artists’ reception will be held. Juniors Jimee B., Robin M., and Megan A. represent Overlea High School.

Art Camp
Information for the summer Art camps sponsored by Baltimore County Public Schools will be running during the month of July.  Classes are offered for high school students in both drawing and painting.  Information is available from Mr. Grace or Mrs. Fishel, or the BCPS web site, under the office of Visual Arts.

Empty Bowls Project
This year National Art Honor Society and Art Club will be making ceramic bowls to be donated to St. Vincent de Paul to help them with their charity work for Baltimore's poor. Their Empty Bowls event will take place on March 7th. The students and teachers would like to invite the OHS faculty to join us in this community service project.  As making ceramics is expensive your $10 donation to another worthy cause, the Overlea Art Department, would be greatly appreciated!  We also have a good number of ceramic bisque forms which can be decorated and taken home for your own use at this low price.  You can't get a better deal than that.  Please join us in this communal clay experience and RSVP to nfishel@bcps.org so we can prepare the correct amount of supplies.

Photography students choose portrait subjects
Mr. Grace's photography students are giving portrait photography a shot. They will be in and out of classes photographing students and teachers alike in order to refine their composition and photography skills in the field of portraiture.

Art Club
Art club meets every Thursday in Mrs. Fishel's room 111 from 2:15 until 5:30.

National Art Honor Society
We will also be choosing our National Art Honor Society officers in the near future.

Baltimore Museum of Art
Overlea students went to The Baltimore Museum of Art on April 17th and had the opportunity to explore the sculpture garden, view the word famous Cone Collection, see a temporary exhibit that showed the history of photography as well as other exhibits at the museum.  Students, parents and friends who were not able to attend can go to both the BMA and the Walters Art Museum FREE at anytime!

Art students display work at Greenwood
Over 100 works of art by Overlea art students will be on display at the Greenwood Mansion in Towson April 1st through the 30th. There was an opening night ceremony for student, parents and guardians, friends, teachers and other interested people Tuesday, April 15, 2008. Please support our wonderful student artists by stopping by to see the show anytime throughout the month of April when the central offices are open.

Volunteer time will be used towards earning additional community service hours.Students also are excited to offer original works for sale and to complete commissions of specific artworks; to be used as a fund raiser for the art department.
50% of the monies are given to the "Gallery" and the students earn 50% of the monies paid for individual artworks. All work displayed in the school may be for sale. Talk to Mrs. Fishel or Mr. Grace if you are interested in purchasing artworks.

Thank you for supporting our Art department.
