State Leadership Conference results
The Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) State Leadership Conference was held on April 10th-12th, 2008 at the Hunt Valley Marriott. FBLA is the largest and oldest business student organization in the world with a quarter of a million members.  Baltimore County had over 120 students attend and participate in this conference. Many students placed 1st through 10th in their competition.

Many of the newly elected state and regional officers are from Baltimore County including the state president, James K. (Dulaney), state vice president, Aaron M. (Overlea), treasurer, Ariel J. (Chesapeake) and region IIA vice president, Courtney G. (Chesapeake). Each one of them will have an element of the state FBLA to manage when their term begins after the National Leadership Conference, June 26 –June 29, 2008, in Atlanta, Georgia.

Congratulations to these FBLA members that participated and competed in the State Leadership Conference. Over 800 students from the entire state of  MD competed and all twelve Overlea students placed in their competition and received certificates and medals. Some of our students also received plaques.

FBLA students recognized by Board of Education
The Board of Education Recognition Ceremony was held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at Loch Raven High School. The Board of Education Recognition Ceremony was an opportunity to publicly recognize a teacher, school administrator or staff person, student, parent, business partner, or community member or organization who significantly contributed to his or her school or the school system, notably if their accomplishments have been honored on the local, state, or national level.

In keeping with the school system’s Blueprint for Progress, the Board of Education and school system also sought to recognize these special individuals or groups for their achievements and/or contributions.
