Senior Flautist performs with Navy Band
Shannon C., senior flautist, has been selected to perform the Washington Post March with the Navy Band
at the November 4th concert at Loch Raven High School.
Every year a small number of BCPS students perform in one piece of music with the Navy Band at this BCPS sponsored event.
Shannon has been an outstanding member of the Overlea HS Band for four years, and greatly deserves this recognition.

OHS students named Maryland Scholars in the Arts
Five art students earned Honorable Mention status as Maryland Scholars in the Arts this year.
After being nominated by the school, each student interviewed and shared their portfolios with independent evaluators.
They were informed of their accomplishments over the summer.
The five students are Elizabeth R., Megan A., Lloyd M., Takeysa T., and Jackie M.
Phenomenan pianist believes in music
Darren C. is a 9th grader and a phenomenal pianist.
He has studied at The Baltimore School of The Arts and is currently enrolled Dr. Gray's Piano Class.
Darren is also the musician for several churches in the city.
During the first days of school, he serenaded the class on the piano while they completed the morning drill.
Upon the completion of his piano rendition, the class applauded with great intensity, showing their appreciation for his talent.
Darren feels that music is important because no matter how many recessions or depressions there are,
music will always be around to make people happy.

Man of few words excellent on guitar
Jonathan S. is a senior in Mr. Ladd's B-1 Guitar 1 class and aide.
He has been playing around town with his band for almost 2 years and is developing into a very fine guitarist.
Jonathan plays lead, rhythm and bass guitar.
While he is a man of few words, with his cool demeanor and keen fashion sense,
we hope to see Jonathan playing on a much bigger stage someday.

Graph Comm senior Jessica W. reels in her second scholarship
Just checked my e mail, this is the second scholarship that Jessica received (this one is from from the Printing and Graphics Association Mid-Atlantic) and it looks like this one renews every semester. She also received $1000.00 from the Baltimore Litho Club.
Mr. Callas,
This morning a man from Printing Graphics Association called me his name is Kerry Stackpole. He told me and my mom that the committee was so impressed with my scholarship interview and especially my application that they are not only going to give me a $1000 scholarship,
they are going to give me $1000 EVERY semester. I just wanted to thank you and everything that you have helped me with for the past couple years.
You are a great teacher and I appreciate everything that you helped me with and taught me. Thank you soooo much,
Jessica W.... :)
