High 5 Design
Dave Zobel, creative director of High5 Design and professor at the Community College of Baltimore County, visited Mr. Callas’s graphic communication classes where he demonstrated advanced Photoshop techniques.  The students were also made cognizant of modern graphic design trends as Professor Zobel explained how he created a sophisticated layout for a magazine.  The students had the opportunity to work on a college level lesson with Mr. Zobel, who is looking forward to returning to Overlea as soon as his schedule allows.

Construction Craft students make "Toys for Tots"
The young men in Mr. Spicer's Construction Craft class designed, cut, drilled, sanded and stained (or painted) wooden puzzles and crayon holders as gifts for young children in the cancer ward at Franklin Square Hospital. Some of the puzzles are shown below. "It makes me feel good to do something nice for someone else," remarked one of the students with a smile on his face.

Eric H; Necho S; Treona A.; Terrance C. worked hard in Mr. Callas' print shop to design and reproduce t-shirts for the participants of this year's fall play, "Up the Down Staircase."

Mastering Oxy-acetylene Welding
Students in Mr. Spicer's Construction Craftsmen class took a trip outside
to see a demonstration of the proper way to weld metal using an oxy-acetylene torch.
Several students then attempted to master the skill with impressive success.

Construction Students Transform School Musical
Mr. Spicer's Construction Craftsmen students worked long and hard on the props for this year's spring musical, DreamGirls. The class built walls, doors, street signs, concert stages and various other props for the play which enhanced the performance tremendously. Kudos to both Mr. Spicer and his 'crew.'
