Administrative Update

From the Desk of Mr. Santa Croce

Dear Parents,

What an outstanding opening to the 2009-2010 academic year we have had!

With the renovations behind us Sparrows Point High School opened with a clearly comfortable and sparkling building. When our staff (a.k.a. The East Side Dream Team) returned from summer break there was a definite excitement among them as they prepared their classrooms for students. When the students arrived I noticed a definite difference from previous years. Although there is always an excitement among them coming back from summer vacation, this year I saw something different. Our students were energized and truly eager to begin learning. I don’t believe I have ever witnessed such an event. I do believe much of what our students bring to school they get from you, so thank you for preparing your children with anticipation, cooperation, and an eagerness for learning. I can only predict that with such continued support from you, we are destined to experience a stellar year in our classrooms, on the stage and studios, and on the athletics courts and fields!

I am very happy to inform you that in the coming months we will be offering an online service called Edline. We are working on getting up and running and we hope to have it available to you in the next few months. In short, you will no longer have to wait for scheduled teacher conferences, interim reports, and report cards to keep informed of your child’s progress. Once you arrive at the password protected site, you will be able to view current grades, projects, attendance, test results, and assignments at the press of a button. The comprehensive reports will be updated at least every week, if not sooner. Our staff looking forward to having this additional up-to-the-minute communication tool and as we get nearer to distribution dates we will keep you informed of our progress.

Until then the traditional methods of contacting our staff (telephone, e-mail, written correspondence, etc.) remain available and I encourage you to stay in contact with your child’s teachers.

I wish you and your children the very best for what promises to be an exceptional year at “The Point.” As always, I sincerely thank you for your continued support; without it we would never be able to accomplish the wonderful things that are occurring at SPHS.

Sincerely,

Robert A. SantaCroce
