What are the school hours?
The morning bell rings at 8:00 am. At this time, you must be seated in your homeroom seat. The afternoon bell rings at 2:30 pm. This is when your last period teacher lets you out of class to pack your backpack.


How many classes are in a normal school day?

There are eight classes in a day including lunch, but ten periods. Two of your classes will have two numbers combined, like 5/6 or 7/8, but they will still only be 50 minutes long like your others.


What are A-days and B- days?
At Cockeysville, we have things called A-days and B-days. A-days occur on Monday's, Wednesday's, and every other Friday. At this time students have certain specials that are shown on their schedules. B-days are on Tuesday's, Thursday's, and every other Friday. So certain specials occur every other day. The upcoming Friday (A-day or B-day) will be posted in the school. If you cannot find the day, ask your teacher.


How do the lockers work?

On the first day of school, you'll be given a locker number and combination. The locks are built into the locker, and using your combination, you can open your locker at the beginning of the school day, before and after lunch, and at the end of the day.


What happens when there is a delay or closing?
If you suspect there will be a closing or delay, you can go to www.bcps.org, the Baltimore County Public Schools website and you will the information at the top of the screen. Also, radio and television stations post the closings and delays.


How often do we go to the computer labs?
You do not have a designated period to use the computers. Instead, your teachers will sign up for a lab when you'll need it for projects, etc. You can use the computers in the library before school, during lunch, and after school.


What are teams?
Teams are an organization of teachers. In 6th grade, every marking period there are reward activities for those who complete homework and other assignments.


How many teachers do we have?

In 6th grade, you'll have 8 teachers: your period 1 teacher, period 2, period 3, period 5/6, period 7/8, period 9, and period 10.
In 7th grade, you'll have 8 teachers: your period 1 teacher, period 2, period 3, period 4/5, period 6/7, period 9, and period 10.
In 8th grade, you'll have 8 teachers: your period 1 teacher, period 2, period 3, period 4/5, period 7/8, period 9, and period 10.


How many students are in a regular class?
It depends on the classes, but normally there are about 20-30 students in each class.


What specials are there?
In a normal school day, there are two specials.
In 6th grade, the specials are Art, Phys. Ed., and Music. There is Phys. Ed. every day, and music and art classes alternate (see A-days and B-days). The specials are at the end of the day.
In 7th grade, the specials are Technology Education, Art, Phys. Ed., and Music.
In 8th grade, the specials are Family Studies, Art, Phys. Ed., and Music.


What is the schedule on a day when we get out 3 hours early?

On a half day, we normally have 25 minutes of each class.
