At Arbutus Middle School
Students Soar Like Eagles On The National French Exam
On March 3, five students in Grade 8 Level I French at Arbutus Middle School took the National French Exam, Le Grand Concours. The results for these 5 students were no less than outstanding. Placements are done statewide and on the national level. Arbutus Middle School is proud to announce that all 5 students taking this national exam scored between 3rd and 15th place statewide. The statewide results are as follows:
In Level 1-A:
3rd Place - Treshaun L
4th Place - Gerry C
10th Place - Melissa B
14th Place - Melanie B
15th Place - Kimberly G
On the national level, which is even higher than the state ranking, Treshaun L was ranked 5th and Gerry C was ranked 6th in the nation. Both will receive medals for their great achievement.
These Arbutus five beat out many students from private and parochial middle and high schools such as Mt. St. Joseph High School; Roland Park Country School; the Barrie School; the Bullis School; the National Cathedral School; the Severn School; Herbert Hoover Middle School; the Stone Ridge School; and St. Paul’s School for Girls.
The National French Exam is a very difficult test that involves tremendous amounts of vocabulary and grammar with listening and reading skills beyond the student’s present level of French. To have one student placed on such a high level statewide is an accomplishment, but to have two students ranked nationally and all five students ranked in the top 15 statewide is a very high honor for those students, Arbutus Middle School, and Baltimore County Public Schools.
Once again, Mr. Scannell would like to congratulate Treshaun, Gerry, Melissa, Melanie, and Kim for the high honor they have brought to themselves, their families, and their school. They are truly an important part of what makes Arbutus Middle School an outstanding place to learn and develop intellectually. Félicitations à tous!! |
