Tomorrow in homeroom your child will receive your invitation to visit during American Education Week.  Grade 6 visitation day is on Tuesday; grade 7 is on Wednesday, and grade 8 is on Thursday.  Of course, you are welcome in classes any day of the week.  I hope that you will have some time during the week to go to your child's classes to see the high level of thinking that the teachers expect of all students.  Please ask for the invitation and have your child complete the schedule for you.  See you next week.

Hello.  This is Mrs. Fink with a reminder to all parents of grade 8 students that the Magnet Expo which includes the Towson High Law and Public Polity program, will be held on Saturday, October 3, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Timonium Crowne Plaza Hotel.  If you are interested in a magnet program or you want to investigate the opportunities for your child, please plan to attend.  Please put the date on your calendar.

Hello.  This is Mrs. Fink with a message for all grade 6 parents and students from the PTSA.  On Monday, October 5, the PTSA is sponsoring a grade 6 parent/student get-together in the school cafeteria with Rita's Italian ice and a DJ.  This is an event for parents to meet other parents and students to see their friends.  We ask that siblings not attend...just our students and their parents.  See you then.

Hello. This is Mrs. Fink at Dumbarton with three messages for parents:

First, the second Volunteer meeting will be tomorrow evening--Wednesday, 9/23--at 6:00 PM. If you have been a volunteer in the past and have received the training at DMS, please email me. If you attended the meeting last week, you are on the list.  If you wish to volunteer and have not been trained at Dumbarton, please plan to attend.

Secondly for grade 8 parents, students have received the presentation and brochure on the Magnet School Program in BCPS. The brochure includes the application. The showcase for Magnet Programs, including Towson High's Law and Public Policy Magnet, will be held at the Crowne Plaza in Timonium on Saturday, October 3, 2009, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The application deadline is November 30, 2009. There are no extensions.

Thirdly, please ask your children to go directly home from school. We have found that their hanging out in the neighborhood or at stores in the area only leads to problems. Going home is the best way to keep all our children out of any trouble and safe.
