I am ready!

What is Jump Rope For Heart?

Jump Rope For Heart promotes the value of physical activity to elementary school childrenwhile showing them they can contribute to their community's welfare. This is a time when children can establish the foundation for movement skills. These are also the years when positive learning experiences can help establish a positive attitude and appreciation for participating in regular, daily physical activity for life. By jumping rope and securing sponsors, students raise money for the fight against heart disease and stroke while learning about

the seriousness of heart disease and stroke
the lifelong benefits of physical activity
the importance of living a heart-healthy lifestyle

Jump Rope for Heart 2002

Dumbarton Middle School held its sixth annual Jump Rope for Heart event on Friday, November 8. Two hundred and sixty-eight students participated in this years event. The gymnasium and cafeteria were packed with jumbpers and excitement. The students of Dumbarton not only displayed their jumping talents, but also their creative side with great team costumes and posters.

The students raised $12,644.85 this year by jumping for three hours in teams of six. This money will go to help the American Heart Association to fight heart disease and stroke. Over the past six years, Dumbarton students have raised $57,443.63. Thank you for your effort and for your support of this event. Mr. Overtoom, the coordinator of the event, would like to htank all of the students, parents, and corporate sponsors who made this year's event the biggest and best ever! Thanks for doing your part so that every American can have a healthy heart!

Corporate sponsors include: Fast Break Sports, Lax World, Pollard's Towing, DARE Program, Coca-Cola and Mountain Valley Spring Water.
