STRIVE for 25:
Success Through Reading Is Visible Everywhere!
This year at Dumbarton, our Lions are going to STRIVE for more than
they ever have – by reading!
The DMS Language Arts Department is sponsoring “STRIVE for 25,”
an initiative that helps students meet the 25-book reading requirement
listed in the Maryland State Department of Education Voluntary State
Curriculum. “STRIVE” stands for “Success Through Reading
Is Visible Everywhere,” and that’s exactly what we plan
to prove during the 2007-2008 school year.
This program supports the Baltimore County Public Schools Blueprint
for Progress and is part of the Dumbarton Middle School Improvement
Plan. The book requirement program is listed as part MSDE’s Voluntary
State Curriculum in the General Reading Comprehension section of each
middle school grade level.
Through the “STRIVE for 25” program, students and teachers
will work together to read, examine and share books they have read.
