Sparrows Point Middle School

The mission of Sparrows Point Middle School is to effectively guide the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical growth of students while developing skills needed to continue their education and become productive members of society.

We offer the traditional comprehensive middle school program, consisting of Math, Science, Reading, Social Studies, Language Arts, Art, Band, Chorus, and Physical Education. Additionally, we offer Spanish, Drama and Algebra for high school credit. SPMS also offers a full Gifted and Talented program as well as Special Education services.

SPMS offers a extensive list of enrichment activities including Math and Reading tutoring. We offer a variety of after school activities including chess club, environmental club, athletic intramurals, GT art, Student Government Association, instrumental lessons, an award-winning vocal ensemble, Future Teachers Association, Shakespeare Club, a student run Newspaper, Quiz Bowl, Honor Society, Book Club, yearbook club and Black Saga. The school also contains an updated and well-maintained computer lab, a comprehensive middle/high school library, and Internet access throughout the building.

Quick Policy Notes:

1)  All cell phones and electronic devices are to be put in lockers upon arrival to school.  If they are taken by a teacher they will need to be picked up from an administrator by the parent.

2)  No water bottles unless accompanied by a medical need documented by a doctor.

3)  Back packs must be stored in lockers at all times.
