Johnson Assistant Principal of Windsor Mill Middle School Mrs. Johnson began teaching in Baltimore County in 2002 after graduating from Lincoln University in Pennsylvania. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Lincoln University with her Bachelor of Science Degree in History and Secondary Education as well as a minor in Black Studies. She began her career teaching Seventh Grade World Cultures at Woodlawn Middle School. The Administrative Team at the time saw something in Mrs. Johnson and made her a Team Leader after her first year of teaching.
She continued at Woodlawn Middle School teaching Seventh Grade for three more years and then teaching Eighth Grade America’s Past for two years. She also embraced a variety of leadership opportunities. She Co-chaired the Reading Across the Curriculum Professional Learning Community in which she taught her colleagues. She was the Coordinator for PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) leading Woodlawn to be awarded as a PBIS Exemplar School and a PBIS Banner School during her tenure. Mrs. Johnson was recognized each year as a “Shining Star” at Woodlawn Middle School for her outstanding leadership, for going above and beyond what was required to meet the needs of Woodlawn Middle school as a whole, and for her contributions to the students and staff. She also was the Coordinator for Woodlawn’s Black Saga Team helping the team to be awarded with first prize in the poster competition as well as honorable mention during the overall competition. She was also the Facilitator of the Safe and Orderly Action Team which monitored the effectiveness and implementation of PBIS, ensured proper implementation of Emergency Procedures, addressed the concerns of faculty and staff in reference to negative student behaviors, implemented strategies and procedures to curb negative behaviors on the part of the students, etc. She was also the Coordinator of Woodlawn Middle School’s Site Based Summer School Program in the summer of 2007. Mrs. Johnson received a certificate of appreciation from the administrative team in 2008 in recognition of her professionalism and dedication to student achievement. Mrs. Johnson always had a desire to continue helping students but from an administrative level so she continued her educational career and received her Masters of Public Administration Degree in 2005 from the University of Baltimore. Once she completed that degree she attended Goucher College and received her Administrator I Certification in 2007. She was promoted within at Woodlawn Middle School and became an Assistant Principal in 2008. Since her promotion to Assistant Principal she earned her Administrator II Certification in 2009.
As an Assistant Principal at Woodlawn Middle School, Mrs. Johnson was assigned to head the Parental Involvement Action team. Along with her Chair she increased the number of volunteers who helped on a consistent basis, instituted a system of surveys to ensure that the concerns of parents and guardians were being addressed, implemented new programs such as Parent Involvement Day in an effort to increase Parent Involvement, etc. She was also charged with monitoring attendance. Along with the Attendance Committee, she instituted a series of procedures to monitor attendance that included incentives, parent conferences and increased communication to ensure that Woodlawn Middle School met its goal for attendance. Mrs. Johnson is looking forward to the new opportunity that has been given to her to work at Windsor Mill Middle School. She is eager to get to know the students, faculty and staff and do all that is necessary to ensure that students achieve. Mrs. Johnson is a native of Baltimore County, being raised in the Woodlawn community. She attended Arlington Baptist Elementary, Middle and High School. She was married in 2008; Mrs. Johnson and her husband reside in Baltimore County. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, home decorating, cooking, baking and doing craft projects. She also enjoys working in her church, City Temple of Baltimore Baptist, and doing community service projects through the National Council of Negro Women Inc.
